In the ’90s everyone had at least one rooster in the kitchen, usually several more.  The roosters were colorful, cute and believed to bring good luck into a home.  Then they faded away for the past couple of decades.  Guest what?  Vintage roosters are back and they have brought their friends, vintage chickens, along for the fun.

Roosters have made a comeback for all types of vintage or farmhouse décor.  They are found in retail stores and online.  The more sought-after and valuable roosters are turning up in thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales and antique and vintage stores.  Chickens have made their way into popularity, as well, when it comes to vintage décor.

Hen house

We have a complete cabinet in our booth dedicated to an array of roosters and chickens in a variety of styles, sizes, colors and presentation as seen above.  We also found a cute little “hen house” wall hanging that we promptly filled with related items.  The napkin holder is from the ’90s and is a Jay Imports ceramic piece.  It is worth about $25.00

Also, in the “hen house” is a set of rooster chef salt and pepper shakers.  These are rare and approximately 25 years old.

Decoupage rooster

The red decoupage chicken with the red bandana design is shiny and cute.  We had two of these and one sold right away.  This one is smaller and priced at $23.00.

The rooster iron-shaped salt and pepper shakers are a rare find and in excellent condition. The “skinny head” chicken was one of two – the larger one sold within a couple of days.  These type of chickens are light wooden art with a glaze over them.

Fat and happy chicken

The vintage wooden carved chicken is happy and cute.  A great addition to any farmhouse décor or fun kitchen.  Any of these roosters and chickens would be welcome to add whimsy to any decor (and maybe good luck!) and they are all affordable.

Watch for roosters to add to your collection or sell in your channels.  They are popular, sell quickly and bring joy to all who add them to their vintage décor collections.
